About The Friends of Bramall Hall and Park

This group is for people with a passion for Bramall Hall and Park. We are open to people from all walks of life who share our interest in supporting the Hall and Park.

Over the past few years we’ve raised funds for improvements to the area. The Small Dining Room was completely restored by us working with council experts, and the park now has a large restored Victorian Rock Garden and a replaced sundial near the Hall’s entrance.

Plans for the near future include a significant extension of the Park and Friends Projects within the Hall.

The Hall also contains wall paintings from the early 16th century which are internationally important. One of our long term Friends’ Projects will be to preserve, catalogue and display them to reveal their original beauty and detail.

Membership of the Friends costs £15 a year. For this small sum you’ll be able to visit all Stockport’s museums – Bramall Hall, Staircase House, Stockport Museum, Hat Works and the Air Raid Shelters – for free. You’ll also get 10% off any purchase in their shops and there’ll be discounted tickets to some events.

Volunteer?

Have you thought about being a volunteer in Bramall Hall now you’ve joined the Friends?
Volunteering is fascinating as the Hall has so much to offer and meeting our visitors, young and old, is always great fun and a very rewarding experience.

We play a role in supporting the Hall staff at weekends, some weekdays during busy holidays periods and at special events.

Roles include meeting & greeting visitors and helping them get the most out of their visit. Supporting events run both by the Friends and the Museum Service such the children’s Witches Potion Trail and others, Christmas events and Friends’ events.

Come and learn new skills and make new friends – a full induction course is provided before you start as a Hall volunteer.
